National standards: Signposts to a morass
The NAGS, in a deceptively bland way, begin a process which directs attention to the national standards (the shaded bits) which are also deceptively bland, and not really national standards. National standards - another day another laugh
I'll spell it out very clearly to Te Ururoa: School choice is about nearly all pakeha parents, if they can, avoiding schools with a preponderance of Maori and Pacific Island children; all Asian parents doing the same; and a smattering of Maori and Pacific Island parents doing the same, too. A cute little group of like-minded quantitatives
No room for a sociologist or two? They don't have anything to contribute? No room for a teacher or two (of the independent sort)? Only quantitative expertise you want? No room for school expertise? As I said, very cosy. It might be a shambles you helped to create, but you are certain you know a way out. Whatever happens, you will be there won't you giving expert advice. Well done, thank goodness for you, thank goodness for quantitative, academic experts. No matter what happens, you're on a winner to everything aren't you? Life's good.... more
